The Youth Philanthropy Initiative of Indiana is celebrating its 10th Anniversary by hosting a series of 2-minute-video contests for kids. Click the links to learn more or watch the video to the right to get a kids'-eye view of the contest. The contests run May - Oct with a deadline of the 20th of each month. Good Luck!

Who can participate in the YPII Video Contest?

Who Should Participate?

 
  • Youth-led efforts only!

  • Youth can be from ages 6 to 22 years old.

  • Live in Indiana or represent an organization doing business in Indiana.

  • Featured projects by Indiana youth can benefit any geographic region.

  • Each application must have a sign-off by an adult – either an organization host or parent/guardian.

Include in the content:

  • How or why you got involved in philanthropy.
  • What you are doing – what is your project or program?
  • How others could be involved in philanthropy – your project or other efforts.
  • The video should be no longer than 2 minutes.
  • Videos may be filmed using casual tools, such as mobile phones and flip-cams.
  • Videos may include sound, combinations of media, be black-and-white or in color. The choice is yours!
  • The only technical issue is that the video must be uploaded and viewed via YouTube.
How do we participate?
 

How do we participate?


  • Submit your video by the 20th of the month for that month’s contest.  Submit each video only once! You may make and submit multiple videos.

  • Upload your video onto your YouTube site. Paste the URL of your video into the application form.

  • If you do not have a YouTube site available to you, you may send the video to YPII
     (please indicate that on your application form where the URL would go) by emailing ypiivideocontest@gmail.com .

  • Fill in your application online – find them HERE: Contest Application

  • Get approval from all participants in the video – you are responsible for this verification.

  • Tell your friends to view your video on youtube or ypin.org video page – “hits” to your video will help earn points for a prize!

  • Winners will be announced by the 10th of the following month. – we will let you know by email if yours is the month’s winning entry.

  • Meeting the deadline:  Entries may be submitted on the 1st of the month and must be received by the 20th of the month.

Videos will be judged on:
1.  Number of hits on the video on YouTube from the 1st until the 31st or end of the month (1/3 of points);
2.  Content:  (a) creativity; (b) having a compelling story (2/3 of points)

  • Receive state and national recognition for your project and organization!

  • Monthly winners will have their videos streamed to YPII’s Facebook page, as well as other venues.

  • Monthly winners are entered into the annual contest for more recognition and prizes!

  • To bring recognition to the work of youth from around the state.

  • To recognize and celebrate YPII’s 10th anniversary!

  • To spread the word about philanthropy statewide.

  • Monthly Winners get a $15 iTunes gift card!

  • The Overall Winner gets to direct a $500 donation to their favorite nonprofit organization!

  • There will be a contest winner each month: $15 ITunes gift cards (sponsored by Crowe Horwath)

  • Monthly winners will be considered for a grand prize award, to be made in November in conjunction with Philanthropy Day events

  • Grand prize is an opportunity to designate a $500 gift to an Indiana 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

  • Other local, statewide and national recognition will be provided for videos on YPII's social media outlets.

Megan & Tyler - Kids Against Hunger
Megan and Tyler have volunteered for Kids Against Hunger for about one year.  Each month, Kids Against Hunger hosts a food packing event.  Megan and Tyler volunteer by helping train new people on the lines, by setting up the lines, and by cleaning up the lines after the event.  Megan and Tyler also sometimes work the lines themselves packing food.
